Here we are with another video piece from 24 Hr Party People. Today we have the trailer for you all to enjoy, which while it doesn't feature much of our man John. It is still quite entertaining. The trailer mainly features Steve Coogan (a comedian) in character as Tony Wilson the founder of Factory Records, New Order's label.
This trailer may very well have been the inspiration for the American trailer of "The Hitch-Hikers Guide To The Galaxy", when it was remade several years back. The trailer itself actually describes exactly what its doing (IE: Title Sequence here, company logo there, etc.), and is rather humorous. But then again it is being done by a comedian, so what else would you expect. The trailer can be viewed below, enjoy.
Hello all, back again with some more video goodness for you to enjoy. Today we have an excerpt from "24 Hr Party People", featuring footage of John in character as Bernard Sumner from New Order. In this clip we find John jamming in an old warehouse, singing the New Order classic "Blue Monday".
As I have told you in previous posts, I used to be a DJ. This particular track remained one the largest selling dance tracks of the year in 1983. It was also the third record I ever purchased. When released originally the track did not offer a radio or 7" version, this did not occur until it was remixed in 1988. The records "B-side" was nearly as popular as its "A-side" and was known as "The Beach".
"The Beach" is actually part of the lyrics to Blue Monday, which is where it gets its name from. The Beach proved to be so popular, that it to was remixed in 1988 for the B-side. The remix is known as "Beach Buggy" and is just a non-vocal version of Blue Monday. Okay that was your history lesson for the day, now enjoy John singing it.

We finally make it to part 3. This post is not another video comparison, but contains a promo for the movie which is entitled "Human Traffic Pop Promo". Personally though, I think a better title for it would be "The Weekend Has Landed". In this promo or trailer whatever you would like to call it, we get to see a lot of the footage from the title sequence of both versions of the movie.
It does differ greatly from the movies, as it is presented in an un-edited format (ie: without special effects overlayed). It also follows the style of a music video, and if it was a single the artists name would more than likely have 'featuring John Simm' tacked onto the end of it. Sounds cliche, but is quite appropriate to the video. You'll understand when you've watched it. Any way, enjoy.
OK, peoples here we are with the second version of the comparison. In the first version, I presented the first 8 minutes and 56 seconds of both movies with the audio from the 'Original' movie. The second version is visually identical, but contains the audio from the 'Remixed' version. Doing the two different versions, allows us to see where we would be in the other version. Should we be watching them simultaneously.

Human Traffic VS Human Traffic Remixed (Visual Comparison) REMIXED AUDIO
Back once again Simm-sons and daughters, in my last post I was full of appologies about my promised post about Human Traffic versus Human Traffic Remixed. Thankfully during the course of this week, some of those problems I mentioned were rectified. It wasn't an easy task, especially seeing as I also got bombed with ad-ware courtesy of "System Doctor 2006".
Yes System Doctor 2006, you B@$+@>)$! For those of you who don't know what I am talking about, I am referring to a program similar to Norton System Mechanic 2007. This is a program designed to remove adware from your system, System Doctor however should be renamed 'System Natropath' as it infects your system first then requests you purchase the product to remove the infection. How thoughtful, yes? Yeah right, anyway you don't want hear about that, you want to hear about John. That's why you're here isn't it? OK, here we go then.
Firstly I need to point out the title of this post, "The Weekend Has Landed (Part 1)". It has been named as this because it is in 3 parts, each containing a video. This the first part contains my promised video comparison of the 2 films, they both start out differently and eventually fall back into sync. You will understand when you watch it. The synchronizing is not a natural occurrence with the 2 movies, they are not of equal duration at all but are very close. So I corrected this by adding all of 7 frames of black to the original.
The 'Original' starts out with the introduction of Johns character in the movie "JIPP", then John moves on to discussing his friends, KOOP, MOFF, LULU and NINA. After this the title kicks in, and the movie formally starts. In the 'Remixed' version, the film starts with MOFF having a speil about being off his pickle then jumps straight into the titles. After the titles both versions then sync, but not forever as there are many differences between the 2 movies.
The soundtrack differs on both of them, some scenes are extended or completely re-edited giving a totally new perspective on this ground breaking movie. Essentially though they both tell the same tale but in a slightly different way. In my last post I mentioned that there was about to be a third version of the movie thrown into the mix, will it be another re-edit? At this stage it is unknown, but lets keep our fingers crossed. It would be very interesting to see "Human Traffic 2007 (The Final Edit)", I like the sound of that and I am sure JIPP does too.

Hello Simm-sons & daughters. Today I bring you more from the John Simm classic, "Human Traffic". I know I have previously promised you a comparison between "Human Traffic" & "Human Traffic Remixed", but unfortunately I am still being plagued with PC issues which have now doubled on my system. Does this mean you won't be receiving it, after all this time? The answer to that is no, it will still come just in a longer time frame.
Some good news regarding this film though is that, a new edition is of the film is set to be released on the 24th of September 2007 (according to sendit.com). The dvd is currently available on pre-order via the link above, however no details of alternate editing or special features are available at this time. So if you like the movie, this version could be the one for your collection. In anticipation of this, below you can find the trailer of the movie to enjoy in the interim.
